The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, or North Korea, is a highly isolated and repressive country. Due to the government’s policies and restrictions, travel to North Korea is very difficult and requires special permission. In recent years, the number of tourists visiting North Korea has been increasing, but it is still a very small number compared to other countries. The vast majority of visitors to North Korea are from China, and most are of Korean ethnicity.<\/p>\n

There are currently no travel restrictions to North Korea, however the U.S. Department of State warns that travel to the country is not recommended due to the risk of arrest and detention.<\/p>\n
