Since the 1950s, North Korea has been building up its arsenal of artillery. It is estimated that they now have between 5,000 and 10,000 pieces of artillery, most of which are located near the demilitarized zone (DMZ) between North and South Korea. This is a worry for both South Korea and the United States, as it would be very difficult to defend against a barrage of artillery fire.<\/p>\n

North Korea has one of the largest standing armies in the world, with more than one million soldiers. However, much of its equipment is old and obsolete, and the military lacks fuel and spare parts. The Republic of Korea’s military has a total of 1,100 K-9 Thunder self-propelled howitzers. These will be upgraded until August 2027. The K-9 Thunder is a South Korean self-propelled howitzer developed by Samsung Techwin for the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. It entered service in 1999.<\/p>\n

A Multiple Launch Artillery Rocket System (MLARS) is a North Korean artillery rocket system. It is composed of six rocket tubes mounted on a vehicle, and is capable of launching 22 rockets in a single salvo. The MLARS has a minimum range of 230 kilometers, and can fire rockets weighing up to 1,285 kilograms. The system is also capable of launching 200 kilogram warheads.<\/p>\n

The M777 is a versatile and effective weapon, and the addition of these Howitzers will help the Ukrainians defend their country against the Russian aggression.
