Although Americans in North Korea are not as common as other nationalities, they still exist within the country. Most of these Americans consist of defectors and prisoners of war from the Korean War, as well as their locally born descendants. Additionally, there are occasional tours and group travel which brings Americans into North Korea from China. These American visitors usually have temporal lodging and stay within the country.
