In recent years, North Korea has been increasingly isolated from the rest of the world. its economy is in shambles, and its people are some of the most impoverished and malnourished in the world. its human rights record is abysmal, and it has been repeatedly denounced by the UN for its continued use of torture, forced labor, and execution. In short, North Korea is a very bad place.
Is it bad to go to North Korea?
I advise against traveling to North Korea due to the serious risk of arrest and long-term detention of US nationals. You should exercise increased caution if you decide to travel to North Korea.
North Korean citizens usually cannot freely travel around the country, let alone travel abroad. Emigration and immigration are strictly controlled. This means that North Koreans have very little freedom of movement, and are not able to come and go as they please.
What it’s like living in North Korea
The country of North Korea is one that is culturally and economically isolated. Many of its citizens suffer from malnutrition and live in extreme poverty. North Koreans go to work every day on farms, in factories, and in the capital of Pyongyang.
North Korea has very strict laws about what you can bring into the country. It is illegal to bring in religious, pornographic or political items. You must declare all published material and electronic devices when you arrive. It is also illegal to knowingly or unknowingly possess items that breach North Korean law.
Is there a McDonald’s in North Korea?

This is a difficult question to answer definitively given the lack of reliable information coming out of North Korea. However, based on what we do know, it appears that conditions in the country are quite dire. Reports of widespread hunger and malnutrition are common, and there are also reports of political repression, forced labor, and torture. Conditions arethought to be particularly bad in prisons, where inmates are often subject to horrific treatment. Given all of this, it’s clear that life in North Korea is very difficult and often very brutal.
North Korea is a bad place. The government is bad, the people are bad, and the country is a mess. I would not recommend anyone visit North Korea.
